Ministry of Industry Connects Energy Innovation Venture Investment Attraction Consultations

'Energy Innovation Venture C-Tech Forum'
"Need for Support in Climate, Carbon, and Clean Technologies"

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy connected energy innovation ventures with investment reviewers for one-on-one investment attraction consultations.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning announced on the 19th that they held an investment attraction briefing session at the Federation of Korean Industries building in Seoul, where energy innovation ventures could discuss funding plans and difficulties.

The briefing session was a side event of the "2nd Energy Innovation Venture C-Tech Forum." The corporate visions and business plans of eight energy innovation ventures selected through prior screening (MicroPore, Sinsung E&S, Zentropy, Overplus Power, TSM Technology, Shemeca, Korea Electric Power Information, Metapas) were presented, followed by technical grade evaluations and climate/environmental consulting for supporting investment institutions. About 70 investment reviewers participated.

This forum is the second event held since last November after reorganizing the existing "Energy Innovation Enterprise Solidarity and Cooperation Forum." The forum began with the presentation of the 2022 energy innovation venture survey results by the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning, followed by presentations on private investment/support trends and excellent growth cases by major companies. According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, "C-Tech" refers to energy and climate technologies related to Climate, Carbon, and Clean that can create new businesses in response to changes in the energy industry paradigm.

Regarding private investment/support trends, Jo Ik-jae, head of Korea Growth Investment Corporation, presented "Energy Industry Venture Investment Trends and Implications," Hong Seok-hyun, an investment reviewer at GS Ventures, explained "GS Group's Climate Tech Investment Direction," and Kim Nok-young, director of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, described "Support Status for Industry Carbon Neutrality Implementation." This was followed by presentations on excellent growth cases of energy innovation ventures, including Kim Tae-young, CEO of Terralix, on the application of air-cooled fuel cell mobility, and Han Shin, CEO of H2, on creating new energy industries in the next-generation battery sector.

Hong Soo-kyung, director of the Energy Technology Division at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, said, "Recently, with changes in the energy industry paradigm, energy innovation ventures possessing promising core technologies in new energy industries are leading industrial and technological innovation. Continuous support and efforts are needed to discover new companies and strengthen growth momentum."
