Busan Gijang-gun Selected for 'Lifelong Learning City for Persons with Disabilities' Contest

Busan Gijang-gun has been newly selected in the ‘2023 Lifelong Learning City for Persons with Disabilities Operation Project’ contest hosted by the National Institute of Special Education under the Ministry of Education, securing 30 million KRW in national funding.


The Lifelong Learning City for Persons with Disabilities Operation Project is a program aimed at expanding accessibility to lifelong education for persons with disabilities and providing customized lifelong education tailored to regional and target-specific learner demands.


With this selection, Gijang-gun will promote the vision project titled ‘Gijang, a Lifelong Learning City for Persons with Disabilities Growing Together in the Learning Forest.’

The project will operate various lifelong learning programs with goals including ▲establishing a foundation for sustainable operation of a lifelong learning city for persons with disabilities ▲implementing customized lifelong learning programs to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities ▲creating an open lifelong learning environment where persons with and without disabilities learn together.


Jung Jong-bok, the mayor of Gijang-gun, stated, “Taking this opportunity of being selected as a lifelong learning city for persons with disabilities, we will operate diverse lifelong education programs to create ‘Gijang, a lifelong learning city’ where anyone, whether disabled or non-disabled, can learn comfortably.”
