In order to build a greater Pohang together with youth, the members of the Pohang City Youth Policy Coordination Committee, who represent youth and engage in activities such as discovering and proposing youth policies, directly observed youth activities and startup spaces in Busan. The visit was arranged to share mutual activity information and strengthen cooperation through communication with the Haeundae District Youth Policy Committee.
The delegation experienced various youth spaces operated by Busan City Hall, including the Youth Dodream Center job information network, Startup Space 100, and Youth Filling Space, and shared information on youth support projects. At Haeundae District Office, they discussed plans to establish mutual networks with the Haeundae District Youth Policy Committee.
Kim Do-jun, Chair of the Pohang City Youth Policy Coordination Committee, said, “Visiting Busan City's youth activities and startup spaces in person allowed us to see and feel many things, and it was a meaningful time to form a network with the Haeundae Youth Policy Coordination Committee.” He added, “This visit provided an opportunity to conceive new ideas and policies that can be applied to Pohang based on various cases in Busan.”
Kwon Hyuk-won, Director of the Job Economy Bureau, stated, “We will continue to provide various youth policy benchmarking and capacity-building opportunities so that successful youth policies reflecting Pohang’s characteristics and identity can be implemented based on participation and experience.” He added, “Through this, we will actively promote youth policies that youth can truly feel and empathize with.”
In January of this year, Pohang City established the Job Youth Division, a dedicated department for youth policy, and secured 16.6 billion KRW to make this year the practical starting point for advancing youth policies. The city is continuously implementing 59 youth support projects across 11 initiatives in four major areas.
To enhance youth policy substance and promote youth rights through expanded youth participation and demand-tailored youth policy discovery, Pohang plans to hold youth policy forums and roundtable meetings. Centered on the Pohang City Youth Policy Coordination Committee, youth-led youth week events and a university student joint festival linked with local universities will also be held.
