The after-school care facility for elementary school students, ‘Gijang-gun Ilgwang Happy Housing Together Care Center,’ opened on the 17th.
The Together Care Center is a facility established to build a community-centered care system and eliminate blind spots in elementary care. It is free for any elementary student in need of care, regardless of income.
Gijang-gun is the first in Busan to fully support the monthly program fees and snack costs with its own budget to reduce parenting burdens and promote public care services.
The newly opened ‘Ilgwang Happy Housing Together Care Center’ operates as a 365-day local hub elementary care center to provide seamless care services.
Operating hours are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays (7 a.m. to 8 p.m. during school vacations), and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and public holidays. The capacity is 50 users.
Additionally, shuttle bus service allows convenient access not only for nearby elementary students but also for children living far away.
At the care center, the director and care teachers provide services including ▲ after-school daily life management ▲ special talent and aptitude guidance ▲ community-linked program operation ▲ provision of meals and snacks, and cultural experience activities.
Applications can be made by phone or visit, and inquiries regarding use and operation can be directed to the Ilgwang Happy Housing Together Care Center.
A Gijang-gun official said, “We hope the Together Care Center contributes to creating an atmosphere where everyone raises children together,” adding, “We will actively support providing a joyful refuge for children.”
Gijang-gun has been operating the Together Care Centers since opening the first center in November 2020, the second in August 2021, and the third in May 2022 to eliminate blind spots in elementary care and reduce parenting burdens for dual-income families.
In the future, the plan is to actively secure public facility spaces to expand the Together Care Centers.
