Members of the Gwanghwamun Forum active in Seoul are continuing a relay donation to the ‘Gyeongju Love Donation Fund,’ warming the spirit of hometown love.
This year, the hometown love donation system, initiated by Chairman Jeon Chung-ryeol and Honorary Chairman Choi Jong-cheon, has continued through voluntary donations among members, with 20 members donating 20 million won as of the 18th.
Among the Gwanghwamun Forum members, three individuals, including Baek Bong-hee, CEO of Space ENG Co., Ltd., and Park Jin-young, CEO of Cosmelab Co., Ltd., were listed as major donors with donations of 5 million won.
Jeon Chung-ryeol, Chairman of the Gwanghwamun Forum, said, “I am very pleased that there is a good system that allows members who cherish their hometown Gyeongju to express their love for it,” adding, “Following the recent attraction of the SMR national industrial complex, we will also unite the power of hometown people to externally promote the justification for hosting the 2025 APEC Gyeongju summit.”
Joo Nak-young, Mayor of Gyeongju, stated, “The hometown love donation system is a public donation that supplements poor local finances, revitalizes the regional economy, and contributes to regional and national balanced development,” and asked for “continued support and interest in Gyeongju.”
The Gwanghwamun Forum is a gathering of prominent figures from various fields, including journalists and public officials from Gyeongju residing around the Gwanghwamun area. Currently, Jeon Chung-ryeol, Senior Advisor at the law firm Daeryuk Aju, serves as chairman, and Han Dong-wook, Deputy General Manager at Maeil Business Newspaper, serves as secretary general.
