Graduate School Adjunct Lecturer Who Ran for District Mayor Accused of Assaulting Chinese International Student

A university lecturer has been reported to the police for allegedly assaulting a foreign student and demanding money, prompting an investigation.

On the 18th, the Geumjeong Police Station in Busan announced that they are investigating after a Chinese international student, Mr. A (male in his 30s), enrolled in the graduate school of Pusan National University, filed a complaint against part-time lecturer Mr. B (male in his 50s).

According to the police, Mr. A claimed that on January 5th, when he protested against Mr. B for making him run personal errands, Mr. B pushed him in the professor's office and punched him in the face.

Mr. A also alleged that Mr. B demanded money via text messages. Additionally, there are claims that Mr. B previously demanded money from other graduate students under the pretext of thesis supervision fees, with three of them reportedly extorted for more than 2 million won each.

On the other hand, Mr. B is known to have strongly denied all allegations, stating that the accusations are not true.

A Geumjeong Police Station official said, "It is true that a complaint was filed, but the complaint did not include any details about money demands," and added, "We are conducting an investigation to verify the facts."

A representative from Pusan National University stated, "The graduate school is conducting a thorough investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident," and added, "We cannot disclose any details."
