Ulsan Office of Education Supports Student Education in Digital Literacy

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is supporting educational programs to strengthen digital literacy education for students within the curriculum.

On the 17th, the Ulsan Office of Education announced that it will support the "Digital Literacy Education Visiting Schools" program targeting 100 schools and 764 classes across elementary, middle, high, special, and various schools.

By school level, the program supports digital literacy education instructors and educational programs for 72 elementary schools (563 classes), 15 middle schools (119 classes), 10 high schools (53 classes), 2 special schools (22 classes), and 1 various school (7 classes).

Additionally, 82 sessions of cooperative digital literacy classes will be conducted for 980 kindergarten students across 27 kindergartens.

This digital literacy education reflects the maximum possible demand from schools and represents 167% of the original target of 60 schools and 300 classes for this project, which is being implemented for the first time this year.

The cooperative partners for this educational project are the Ulsan Viewer Media Center, Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, DOGICO (a digital platform company), and KT, all of which signed a business agreement with the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education last year.

These partner organizations will provide 13 specialized digital literacy education programs and 122 cooperative instructors tailored to the levels of each school and grade.

They will also conduct customized cooperative classes by school and class for students, covering the use of digital devices and software, utilization and creation of digital information, digital communication and problem-solving, as well as digital ethics and information protection.

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to develop and distribute digital literacy educational materials by operating a digital literacy education research support group and subject research association composed of elementary and secondary school teachers.

Recently, a joint training workshop was held in the city education office’s Empathy Meeting Room for 10 teachers from the digital literacy education research support group and 25 teachers from the digital literacy education subject research association.

Participants in the joint training shared opinions on on-site consulting plans for digital literacy education by school level and on the development and distribution plans for teaching and learning process plans for each component of digital literacy.
