Yoon Hee-sook: "It Must Be Clearly Shown That We Are Not Swayed by Jeon Gwang-hoon's Voice"

Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Hee-sook raised her voice, saying that in order for the People Power Party to sever ties with Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church, it must clearly show that it will not be swayed by his voice.

On the 18th, Yoon said on KBS's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strongest Current Affairs,' "It is important for the party leader and our leadership to go there and internally discipline politicians who flatter that side to gain political benefits and make promises," expressing this view.

The day before, Pastor Jeon held a press conference announcing a 'break with the People Power Party,' but at the press conference, he made demands related to nominations and continued to campaign for joining the People Power Party, showing that he still tries to exert influence over the party. Accordingly, there are calls for moves to sever ties with him.

However, since Pastor Jeon is not a party member, there are limits to the party-level response. Former lawmaker Yoon said, "People Power Party leader Kim Ki-hyun said, '(Pastor Jeon) is not even a party member,' which feels somewhat passive, but that is factually correct," adding, "So he is an outspoken and somewhat unique supporter from outside. But he is not even a party member."

She continued, "The important thing is for the party to clearly demonstrate that it will not be swayed by his voice," and "He is just a supporter who does not influence the party at all, not even a party member, just a supporter, and that must be shown."

Yoon mentioned 'internal discipline' as one way to achieve this. She also hinted at the need for disciplinary action against Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won, who caused controversy by attending Pastor Jeon's worship service and making inappropriate remarks. Yoon said, "Yesterday, looking at Leader Kim's remarks, it seems that the current leader is beginning to take a direction of strictly disciplining politicians internally who give such impressions for their personal political gain."
