Hwang Kyo-an "Jeon Gwang-hoon Still Makes Wrong Judgments... Difficult to Go Together"

Pastor Jeon Gwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church demanded the "abolition of nomination rights" instead of the previously announced "declaration of breakup," prompting former Future United Party leader Hwang Kyo-ahn to say, "It's really absurd" and "It's difficult to go together."

On the 18th, former leader Hwang said on SBS's "Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show," "Everyone was preparing for a breakup, but he said he would recruit more of our party members, and in doing so, he intends to take control of our party. It seems he still hasn't reached a conclusion on his wrong judgment," he said.

Pastor Jeon held an emergency press conference the previous morning, advocating for the abolition of nomination rights and a nationwide campaign for People Power Party membership. However, this was far from the "declaration of breakup with the People Power Party" that Pastor Jeon had announced, leading to various speculations about the background.

Former leader Hwang said, "He has long said he would make lawmakers, but he hasn't made a single one. He keeps hovering around our party, but our party has its own values," adding, "We will continue as we are, and I judge that Pastor Jeon will find it difficult to go with us."

He pointed out that the intention behind the previous day's press conference was "to bring more people into our party to increase influence over the party, see whether they listen to him or not, and then make a judgment," adding, "He is making such a political calculation, and while the public may be fooled once or twice by such words, they will not be deceived until the end."

Regarding Pastor Jeon's influence on the ruling party, former leader Hwang said, "I think he doesn't have much influence. Based on my experience, that's the case," emphasizing, "Even if he brought many people, nothing went according to his wishes. It's not that someone became successful because he supported them, nor did they become successful."

Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, reacted strongly to Pastor Jeon's press conference, saying, "Please shut that mouth." In response, former leader Hwang said, "Didn't the leadership mean to really cut ties?" and added, "Kim's characteristic is to speak softly, but saying 'shut your mouth' is a very extreme expression. Ultimately, the party's position is clear."
