MOU with FKI to Support SME ESG Self-Assessment

LG Electronics announced on the 18th that it will expand support for not only domestic partners but also overseas partners to undergo external ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) certification audits starting this year. This is to strengthen ESG risk management in the partner supply chain.

Support will be provided for 50 domestic and international partners, including 22 electronic component partners of the Vietnam corporation, to undergo third-party ESG risk certification audits. They will be assisted together with the global certification body SGS.

As the European Union (EU) and others have recently increased regulatory levels on ESG-related laws such as supply chain due diligence laws, the ability of partners to respond to ESG risks in the supply chain has become important.

LG Electronics is supporting partners to undergo ESG on-site inspections based on the RBA Code of Conduct. This encourages partners to independently prepare improvement measures. The RBA is an alliance established by major global companies such as Samsung Electronics, Apple, and Intel to fulfill social responsibility within their supply chains.

Over the past two years, LG Electronics has supported 100 domestic partners to undergo ESG management capability conformity certification audits by credible global certification bodies.
