Song Young-gil, former leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, revealed that he had a phone conversation with Lee Jae-myung, current leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, regarding the 2021 party convention money envelope allegations, and stated that he will soon release a position including matters related to his return to the country.

According to Yonhap News on the 17th (local time), Song, who is staying in Paris, France, said, "I had a phone call with Leader Lee last night, during which I fully understood his remarks and thoroughly explained my position."

Regarding the money envelope allegations, he said, "I do not know about it, and since the prosecution is investigating how it proceeded, I have no choice but to wait for the results and then decide what to do." He added, "I plan to hold a press conference in Paris either later this week or early next week to clarify my position."

Meanwhile, at the Supreme Council meeting on the same day, Leader Lee apologized deeply as the party leader, saying, "I sincerely apologize to the public for causing concern due to this incident," and stated, "The party will strive for accurate fact-finding and swift resolution of the situation, and for this purpose, I would like to request the early return of former Leader Song."
