Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam, "No Obstacles to Establishing Sacheon Aerospace Agency"

On the 17th, Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, emphasized at the meeting of heads of departments and bureaus that "there are no obstacles to establishing the Aerospace Agency in Sacheon."

Referring to his visit to the members of the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Broadcasting and Communications Committee on the 12th, Governor Park said, "Both ruling and opposition lawmakers agree on the establishment of the Sacheon Aerospace Agency," adding, "We must not be complacent and continue efforts for the prompt passage of the special law in the National Assembly, while strengthening the agency's status and functions according to the national space economy vision."

Regarding the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) economic alliance, he said, "We are working hard to promote national projects and secure government budgets, but an alliance in the energy sector is also necessary," adding, "Since Bu-Ul-Gyeong hosts many power generation facilities such as nuclear and thermal power plants, we should explore joint development plans including the introduction of a regional differential electricity rate system."

He continued, "The Gadeok New Airport, being promoted in line with the 2030 Busan Expo, will play an important role in South Korea's economy," and added, "To improve accessibility from Gyeongnam to Gadeok New Airport, we need to create plans to expand railway and road networks, make this an agenda item for the Bu-Ul-Gyeong economic alliance, and request support from the government."

Regarding water quality management such as the green algae in the Nakdong River, he ordered to demand from the government and political circles the establishment of specialized institutions and the enactment of special laws.

On the selection process of new developers for the Jinhae-gu Ungdong district development project, he instructed to "ensure there are no allegations of favoritism."

He urged, "A transparent and fair project promotion is necessary, along with a thorough review of land supply, excess profit issues, and the roles of Changwon City and the Gyeongnam Development Corporation."

He demanded responsible attitudes from senior public officials regarding their duties.

Governor Park said, "If the targeted outcomes are not achieved, we must change our thinking, personnel, and ways of performing tasks, and even learn from other institutions or private companies."

He also said, "Contents from the Provincial Residents' Meetings and the Provincial Administration Proposal Plaza should not end as mere suggestions but be actively reflected in provincial administration."

He proposed providing time for recharging and boosting morale for public officials who have worked hard recently on wildfire response and spring festivals, including expanding eligibility for long-term service leave and considering special leave.

Governor Park said, "Although the economic situation is difficult nationwide, economic indicators such as trade balance, manufacturing production index, and number of employed persons show a solid trend in Gyeongnam," and added, "Let's put more effort into revitalizing the economy in the province."
