During Circus, Lion Runs Out Causing Panic Among Chinese Audience

At a circus performance in China, a lion performing acrobatics escaped from its cage, causing spectators to evacuate in a panic.

According to local media including Hongseong Newspaper on the 17th, around 10:45 a.m. on the 15th, at a circus venue in Luoyang, Henan Province, a lion suddenly ran out of its cage while performing tricks. At that time, the audience hurriedly got up and left the venue as the lion dashed out. The startled trainers chased after the lion, but it had already left the interior of the venue.

The video capturing the incident quickly spread on social networking services (SNS). The released footage shows spectators enjoying the circus shouting phrases like "Hurry, hurry" and "Don't run" as they rushed toward the exits. It also shows citizens carrying or holding hands with children while running. The lion wandered outside the circus venue, even reaching the outdoor parking lot.

The lion was recaptured by police who responded to citizens' reports 15 minutes after the escape. Fortunately, no casualties occurred, but the spectators had to calm their frightened hearts.

Chinese netizens reacted with comments such as "It was almost dangerous. Luckily, no casualties occurred," "The lion seemed stressed from performing at the circus," and "Release the animals."

The authorities confirmed that the lion's cage lock was undone at the time of the accident and halted the operation of the circus troupe.
