Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 17th that it will hold the 1160th 21st Century Jangseong Academy by inviting Professor Kwon Il-yong, Korea's first profiler, at the small theater of Jangseong Culture and Arts Center on the 20th.
Known as a criminal profiling expert, Professor Kwon Il-yong has authored books such as "Why I Read the Mind of Murderers" and appeared on numerous broadcasts including SBS's "Unanswered Questions."
Criminal profiling is an investigative technique that systematically analyzes information related to crimes to identify the characteristics of the perpetrator.
Professor Kwon Il-yong, who was selected by Police Superintendent Yoon Oe-chul in the early 2000s to become Korea's first profiler, has accumulated extensive data by profiling over 1,000 criminals, including serial killers such as Lee Chun-jae, Jung Nam-gyu, and Kang Ho-soon.
He is currently serving as an adjunct professor in the Department of Police Administration at Dongguk University.
According to Professor Kwon Il-yong, modern crimes are evolving into forms such as gaslighting and grooming sexual crimes, which are marked by emotional abuse and psychological violence.
This lecture will focus on ways to prevent crimes from infiltrating our daily lives. A performance by the dance team "Miss Molly" is scheduled as a pre-event.
On-site attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis without prior registration, and real-time viewing is also available through the county's YouTube channel.
The lecture video can be watched anytime again through Jangseong-gun's official website and YouTube channel.
