Gyeongju City has received the highest grade for three consecutive years in the pledge evaluation conducted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.
On the 17th, Gyeongju City announced that it received the ‘SA (highest) grade’ for three consecutive years in the evaluation of pledge implementation plans for local government heads nationwide during the 8th term of elected officials, conducted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters targeting 226 cities, counties, and districts across the country.
From January to April, after comprehensively evaluating the pledge implementation plans disclosed on the websites of 226 local governments nationwide, Gyeongju City received the highest grade, SA, which is awarded to those with a comprehensive score of 90 or above. The evaluation process included a first evaluation reflecting monitoring and analysis by a manifesto evaluation team composed of experts, followed by a second evaluation where local governments provided explanations for pointed issues, ensuring an objective procedure.
The Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters evaluated 35 items across categories such as preparedness (60 points), democracy (25 points), transparency (15 points), and pledge consistency (Pass/Fail). Scores of 90 or above were classified as SA grade, and scores of 80 or above as A grade, providing differentiation among local governments.
In all evaluations, Gyeongju City received top scores, placing it in the SA grade category awarded to those with a comprehensive score of 90 or above.
Gyeongju City also achieved the SA grade in 2021 and 2022, marking the remarkable achievement of attaining the highest grade in pledge evaluations for three consecutive years.
Earlier, after finalizing the 8th term elected officials’ pledges into 10 major areas, Gyeongju City formed a resident evaluation group to review the pledge implementation plan in August last year and held three meetings to complete a meticulous and detailed network plan.
Additionally, Gyeongju City clearly organized the pledge items so that citizens can easily understand and access them, and posted them on the city hall website in October last year.
Mayor Ju Nak-yeong’s 8th term pledges include a total of 127 projects: 9 projects for fostering a world-class historical and cultural city, 10 projects for tourism industry innovation and the era of 20 million tourists, 12 projects for good jobs and fostering advanced new growth industries, 16 projects for a warm (溫, All) family happiness city, and 15 projects for prosperous rural and fishing villages that attract young people.
Mayor Ju Nak-yeong of Gyeongju said, “A greater Gyeongju! A better future! We will do our best for the uninterrupted development of Gyeongju,” and added, “We will not be satisfied with this result and will continue to listen to citizens’ opinions and thoroughly implement the pledge projects promised to the citizens.”
