Yeongdeok-gun Adds Eco-Friendly LED Multi-Sign Road Nameplates

Energy Saving and Effective Route Guidance

Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, installed eco-friendly LED multi-sign road nameplates at five locations within the district on the 14th to suppress carbon emissions using eco-friendly energy and enhance the visibility of road nameplates for easier navigation.

The newly installed locations include three roundabouts in Yeongdeok-eup near Yeongdeok Bridge, Yeongdeok Station, and Yeongdeok Fire Station; one roundabout near Yejoo Culture and Arts Center in Yeonghae-myeon; and one intersection near Changsu Police Substation. These use a composite nighttime lighting road nameplate system to improve visibility and readability of the road nameplates both day and night.

The LED multi-sign road nameplates provide a comprehensive view of local information such as address details and tourist attraction guides, as well as directions. They operate on self-generated power, automatically turning on and off, making maintenance easy.

Additionally, operating with LED modules saves 80% energy compared to traditional lighting lamps, and by utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, they offer significant eco-friendly advantages.

Since 2013, Yeongdeok-gun has been promoting the installation of eco-friendly LED multi-sign road nameplates, focusing on high-traffic roundabouts and intersections that are difficult to navigate, such as the Nonghyup Gas Station intersection and the entrance to Samsa Marine Park, implementing the project at a total of 16 locations so far.

Maintenance for the 11 existing LED road nameplates is also planned to be completed within this year.

Kim Myeong-hee, Director of the General Civil Affairs Division, stated, “We will explore and apply various methods to enhance convenience by utilizing road name address facilities so that residents and tourists do not have difficulty finding their way.”
