The newly assigned public health doctors include 18 medical doctors, including specialists, 9 dentists, and 12 Korean medicine doctors. By institution, 38 personnel were assigned to 17 health institutions, and one pediatric specialist was assigned to Shinan Daewoo Hospital, an emergency medical institution in a vulnerable area. In total, 59 public health doctors (24 medical doctors, 16 dentists, 19 Korean medicine doctors) will be working within the jurisdiction.

A health center official stated, “In six locations without medical institutions, such as Gageodo and Hongdo, two medical doctors were assigned to each to promptly respond to emergency patients occurring at night and on weekends,” adding, “We prioritized assigning specialists and interns to areas with frequent emergency patients, such as Heuksan-myeon, focusing on minimizing medical service gaps.”

Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “Given Shinan-gun’s conditions, with many elderly residents and medical blind spots, and many places where boats do not operate for 167 days a year, I hope public health doctors will take responsibility for improving the quality of medical services and promoting residents’ health, adhere to service guidelines to prevent medical service gaps, and do their best in medical activities with the care of a family member.”
