On the same day, Woo held his first regular press briefing since taking office at the Seoul Seodaemun-gu Police Agency in the morning and said, "At the beginning of this year, we planned for 15 special promotions, but later increased the number."
Regarding actor Yoo Ah-in (37) and his drug use case, he said, "We plan to summon Mr. Yoo once more," adding, "Since the previous investigation lasted 9 hours but was insufficient, we will review further and then decide on whether to take legal action."
Concerning the drug use by acquaintances revealed by Jeon Woo-won (27), grandson of former President Jeon Du-hwan, he explained, "Out of a total of 10 people, the first investigation has been completed for 3 who are in the country," and added, "Both the rapid reagent test and the National Forensic Service's detailed examination came back negative, making it difficult to acknowledge the charges." The remaining 4 have been confirmed to have left the country, and additional investigations are underway.
Regarding the investigation into drug-laced beverages in Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, he said, "No additional upper-level suspects have been identified so far," but mentioned, "We are conducting additional raids on the social networking service (SNS) accounts used by the suspects and will continue investigating whether there are further upper-level suspects."
On June 3rd, an incident occurred near Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where drug-containing beverages were handed directly to students under the pretense of a tasting event, and the police are investigating. Four suspects have been arrested, and Interpol red notices have been requested for three suspected higher-ups.
Regarding the renewal work of investigative police, which involves reviewing the investigative organization and command system, he stated, "We plan to prepare the National Investigation Headquarters' own plan in the first half of the year, conduct a pilot implementation in the second half, and promote legal revisions." He added that the renewal will cover ▲ organizational diagnosis ▲ clarification of command system and responsibilities ▲ securing and training high-quality personnel.
