The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants announced on the 17th that it will hold the 3rd ESG (Environmental, Social Responsibility, and Governance) Certification Forum.
The forum, held on the 27th, will be conducted in two sessions focusing on the current status of ESG reporting and certification both domestically and internationally. In the session on domestic ESG reporting and certification status, Yeonjeong Ko, head of the KICPA ESG Research Team, will review the current status based on the results of a survey on domestic ESG reports. In the session on the status of international ESG certification work - focusing on the report by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), Professor Gyu-an Jeon of Soongsil University will examine global trends in sustainability report certification and discuss related issues.
Kyoungsik Kim, President of KICPA, stated, "At a time when the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) is about to announce international sustainability disclosure standards, and with the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) initiating the establishment of sustainability certification and ethical standards, it is expected that a global sustainability disclosure, reporting, and certification ecosystem will be established in the near future." He added, "This forum, which reviews the current status of domestic and international sustainability disclosure and certification, is expected to be a meaningful time to explore the direction we should take for the expansion and solidification of ESG."
Meanwhile, as a specialized audit certification organization, the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants is conducting ESG support projects such as introducing international certification standards, operating an ESG academy, and publishing booklets to enhance the transparency and reliability of ESG information.
