Yoo Seung-min: "Hong Joon-pyo, Strong-Weak-Weak-Strong... Should Speak Directly to the President"

"Kim Gi-hyeon, the leader elected to be obeyed"
"All responsibility for mistakes lies with the President"

Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min sharply criticized Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, who clashed with People Power Party leader Kim Ki-hyun over the controversy surrounding Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon, urging him to abandon his 'strong-weak-weak-strong' attitude.

On the 16th, Yoo appeared on MBN's Jeong Un-gap's Focused Analysis and said, "People like Pastor Jeon making strange remarks should be firmly cut off by Leader Kim Ki-hyun, the party leadership, and party lawmakers. In that regard, what Mayor Hong said is correct," but he also pointed out, "Since all the blame lies with the president, if you have something to say, say it directly to the president."

He continued, "In a way, Leader Kim must be in a very difficult position right now. He was elected to listen to the president," adding, "I directly give harsh criticism to President Yoon if there is a fault. Mayor Hong, it would be good if you fix your tendency to be weak toward strong people and strong toward weak people."

Yoo also mentioned President Yoon’s responsibility regarding the recent decline in the party’s approval ratings. He emphasized, "President Yoon has, by any means necessary, already turned the People Power Party into something like a personal party dominated by the president alone," and said, "I think he should not only hold the ruling power but also feel the responsibility that comes with it."

Regarding rumors of forming a new party, Yoo dismissed them, saying, "I have no such intention." On whether he would run in the general election, he said, "I have not the slightest desire to wear a lawmaker’s badge one more time," and added, "Having been in politics for 24 years, I want to change the old conservative and achieve the path of reform conservatism. For that, I will not hesitate to take any position or role."
