The film "Guigongja," starring actor Kim Seon-ho who halted his activities due to personal controversies including pressuring an ex-girlfriend to have an abortion, will be released in theaters this summer.

On the 17th, distributor NEW announced that director Park Hoon-jung's new film "Guigongja" will premiere in June.

"Guigongja" is a movie depicting the story of Marco, a boxer wandering through illegal boxing rings in the Philippines, who is pursued by various factions with different motives, including a mysterious man called Guigongja. The film is directed by Park Hoon-jung, known for "New World" (2013) and "The Witch" parts 1 and 2 (2018?2022).

Kim Seon-ho plays Guigongja, who struggles desperately by any means to raise money, and rookie Kang Tae-joo, selected from a competition with a ratio of 1 to 1980, plays boxer Kang Tae-joo.

In October 2021, Kim Seon-ho's ex-girlfriend revealed on an online forum that Kim Seon-ho, her former boyfriend, pressured her to have an abortion and exhibited various personality issues, sparking controversy. The production company Oyu Naegang replaced Ahn Bo-hyun in the casting of the film "2 O'clock Date" (directed by Lee Sang-geun), and JK Film also replaced casting in "Dog Days" (directed by Kim Deok-min, working title) with Lee Hyun-woo, completing filming.

However, director Park Hoon-jung stood by Kim Seon-ho. He cast him as originally planned in "Guigongja," a film initially known as "Sad Tropics." Some expressed concerns that it was inappropriate for Kim Seon-ho, involved in the abortion pressure controversy, to star in a work featuring a "Kopino" (a second-generation child born to a Korean and a Filipino).
