Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, received the highest grade (SA) for five consecutive years, including four years of the 7th local government and the first year of the 8th local government, in the manifesto evaluation field.
According to the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters on the 17th, Nam-gu received the highest grade in the '2023 Evaluation of Local Government Heads' Pledge Implementation Plans for the 8th Local Government' published by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.
The pledge implementation plan evaluation aims to enhance the effectiveness and feasibility of election pledges of 226 local government heads nationwide. The Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters conducted the evaluation by monitoring materials posted on each local government's website in the first survey and then requesting additional materials from each local government in the second survey.
This evaluation reflected 35 detailed indicators across four areas: completeness, democracy, transparency, and pledge consistency of the pledge implementation plans. Local governments that did not accurately disclose pledge information on their websites or had insufficient content were rated as 'non-communication' and given a 'D grade.'
Nam-gu received excellent scores in all four areas and was named the highest grade (SA). In the area of completeness, which had the highest evaluation score, Nam-gu was praised for thoroughly disclosing future execution plans based on trust and confidence, including the priority of core pledges, annual investment demands and promotion plans, budget allocation by sector, and analysis of social and economic conditions.
A Nam-gu official said, "We will always do our best to fulfill our pledges with an unwavering heart as if it were the first time," adding, "We will not be complacent with the results and will demonstrate trustworthy and reliable administration so that all Nam-gu residents can be happy."
