Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to Recruit Additional Companies and Workers for Vacation Support Program

Meeting High Demand, Maximizing Domestic Tourism Role
Expanding Project Scale Beyond Initial Plan for Additional Support

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization will additionally recruit companies and workers to participate in the worker vacation support program until the 31st of next month. The worker vacation support is a project to promote domestic travel activation. When a worker deposits 200,000 won and a company deposits 100,000 won, the government supports 100,000 won, allowing a total of 400,000 won to be spent as expenses.

More than 100,000 people applied in the recruitment last January. To meet the high demand and maximize the role of domestic tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to increase the scale of the project beyond the original plan. A ministry official explained, "Participating workers can use the accumulated vacation fund of 400,000 won to purchase products such as accommodation and transportation on the dedicated online mall and mobile app." He added, "Various discount events and special exhibitions are also prepared on the dedicated online mall, allowing additional discount benefits."

Participating companies receive additional points in government-certified company selection or have their performance recognized. If selected as an excellent company, they receive government awards and opportunities for corporate promotion through inclusion in a collection of best practices. The target participants are workers and small business owners of small and medium-sized enterprises, mid-sized companies, non-profit private organizations, and social welfare corporations and facilities. Applications are accepted from companies starting at 2 p.m. on the 17th on the worker vacation support project website.
