Busan Office of Education Hosts 'Seoulrim' Drawing Contest for Students with Special Educational Needs

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the ‘Seoulrim’ Drawing Contest on the 18th at the square in front of the Busan Student Education and Culture Center.

About 500 participants, including special education students and their supervisors from elementary, middle, and high schools in the Busan area, will take part in this contest.

Now in its 13th year, the contest aims to help special education students express their artistic potential through drawing, satisfy their desire for aesthetic expression, and build self-confidence.

On the day, students will freely express “The Image of Busan,” the theme reflecting their wish to host the 2030 World Expo, showcasing Busan’s pride or places they want to visit.

The Office of Education will select 54 outstanding works from submissions to the ‘Seoulrim’ Drawing Contest and the writing, photography, and cartoon contests held in May and award prizes. These works will then be exhibited in the gallery on the first floor of the Busan Student Education and Culture Center until May 27.

Jung Dae-ho, Director of Secondary Education at the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “This contest will be a valuable opportunity for special education students to express their thoughts and feelings through drawing, providing a chance for artistic experience and fostering aesthetic sensibility.”

He added, “We will continue to do our best to create an atmosphere where students with and without disabilities can understand and accompany each other through various program operations.”

Earlier, from the 3rd to the 28th of this month, the Busan Office of Education has been holding a writing, photography, and cartoon contest for general students in elementary, middle, and high schools under the theme “Daily Life and Friendship between Students with and without Disabilities at School.”
