The new name will be decided through a public contest held from today until July 12. After collecting submissions, the name will be finalized through a review process.

Participants can enter by downloading the application form from the Korea Forest Service website, filling it out, and submitting it via email.

Submitted works will be reviewed by a judging panel composed of internal and external members. The evaluation criteria include whether the work reflects the representativeness, symbolism, and popularity of Imdo.

Each person can submit up to two entries, and if the same name is submitted multiple times, only the earliest submission will be considered for judging.

The results of the judging will be posted on the Korea Forest Service website at the end of next month, and winners will be notified individually.

Four winners will be selected: one grand prize winner (1,000,000 KRW), one excellence prize winner (500,000 KRW), and two encouragement prize winners (each 100,000 KRW), with a total of 1,700,000 KRW worth of cultural gift certificates awarded.

Shim Sang-taek, Director of the Forest Industry Policy Bureau at the Korea Forest Service, said, "Imdo is infrastructure that enhances various public values of forests such as forest management, protection, and recreation," adding, "The contest is held to encourage public interest in Imdo and to highlight its necessity and importance."
