KT Conveys Continued Investment Policy to Partners... Alleviating Concerns

KT announced on the 17th that it will strengthen communication with partner companies responsible for construction work essential to providing telecommunication services. This effort is part of ensuring stable telecommunication services by addressing concerns held by partners since the establishment of the acting management system.

Starting from the Busan·Gyeongnam Customer Headquarters located in Dong-gu, Busan Metropolitan City on the same day, KT will award information and communication construction certificates to a total of over 200 companies by the 21st, including 133 partners in the Outside Plant (OSP) sector and 71 partners in the wireless, transmission, and power sectors. KT will also hold discussions on safe operation measures and partner companies’ current issues. Depending on regional circumstances, the meetings will be conducted either offline or via video conference.

Partners in the OSP sector are responsible for constructing external telecommunication facilities such as optical cables, telecommunication poles, and manholes. Partners in the wireless, transmission, and power sectors handle construction work for 5G·LTE base stations, repeaters, and ultra-high-speed transmission and power telecommunication facilities. In a hyper-connected society based on 5G, active cooperation between telecommunication companies and partners is essential for the stable construction and operation of telecommunication infrastructure.

Executives in charge of OSP construction ordering and wireless, transmission, and power ordering at KT will attend this communication enhancement event. They will convey the policy to continue construction investments focusing on major telecommunication facility projects such as OSP equipment relocation and wired and wireless telecommunication facility construction starting from the second quarter. They also plan to inform that careful attention will be paid to prevent partner companies from experiencing management difficulties, which had been raised by some since the acting management system was implemented.

Kwon Hye-jin, Executive Director of KT’s Network Strategy Headquarters, said, “Full-scale telecommunication-related construction resumed in April, and we plan to rapidly proceed with wired and wireless investment projects planned at the beginning of the year. Investment in essential telecommunication construction such as OSP will be executed at a level similar to last year, which strengthened stable network operation, to do our best in providing smooth telecommunication services.”
