On the 16th (local time), the American Golf Channel reported, "Casey Jarvis (South Africa) shot a 13-under-par 59 in the third round of the Sunshine Tour Stella Artois Players Championship held at the Dane Pan Country Club (par 72) in Johannesburg, South Africa." The 59 on the Sunshine Tour is the second-ever since Peter Kamis (South Africa) recorded it in the second round of the 2009 Lombard Insurance Classic.

Jarvis predicted a great record by scoring 7 birdies for 29 strokes in the front nine, and added 2 eagles and 2 birdies in the back nine. Jarvis exclaimed, "I never imagined shooting 59," adding, "Today was a day when every shot stuck and every putt went in." Jarvis finished the tournament tied for second place (24-under-par 264) after lowering his score by 4 more strokes on the final day, 6 strokes behind Kyle Barker (South Africa, 30-under-par 258).

There have been 32 rounds of 59 or lower in major world tour events so far. There have been 5 rounds of 58. However, only 12 players have won after shooting 59.
