In addition to Samsung Electronics, 10 affiliates including Samsung Display, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDS, Samsung C&T, Samsung Heavy Industries, and Samsung Biologics are participating in this campaign, which was organized to actively contribute to solving environmental issues in honor of Earth Day. Especially this year, through collaboration with the used information and communication technology (ICT) platform company 'Mintit', employees can conveniently return products using 5,600 Mintit ATM devices nationwide.

Samsung employees can enter their name and phone number in advance on the waste mobile phone collection campaign site and then return their waste mobile phones through the Mintit ATM devices. Employees who participate in the campaign will be eligible for a raffle to receive prizes and carbon neutrality points operated by the Ministry of Environment.

Started in 2015, this campaign is held annually around Earth Day to raise awareness of environmental protection and resource circulation. Over the past eight years, a total of 64,330 mobile phones have been collected through this campaign, with 12,675 collected last year alone.

Samsung Electronics service centers in 37 countries, including the United States and India, are also conducting waste mobile phone collection campaigns targeting consumers. In Kazakhstan, collection boxes for waste mobile phones have been directly installed at eight universities nationwide, and lectures on proper disposal of waste electronic products and resource utilization methods are held for students at Almaty University of Technology to raise awareness about resource recovery and reuse. In 16 countries such as Chile and Egypt, where waste product collection infrastructure is insufficient, new collection systems from waste electronic product collection to recycling are being established.

A Samsung Electronics official stated, "We plan to expand the waste product collection system so that waste electronic products can be collected in all regions of more than 180 countries where Samsung Electronics products are sold by 2030."
