Geochang Changpowyun Takes Active Steps to Be Designated as a National Garden

Gu In-mo, the mayor of Geochang County, Gyeongnam, visited the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo site along with officials from Geochang Changpowon.

The county promoted this visit to benchmark the Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo, which aims for "Gardens Together, Circulating Economy, Recovering Nature," in order to explore ways for Geochang Changpowon, Gyeongsangnam-do's first local garden, to advance to a national garden.

Gu In-mo, Governor of Geochang County, Gyeongnam, is visiting the Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo and touring various sites.

The mayor's delegation received a warm welcome from No Gwan-gyu, mayor of Suncheon, and the Garden Expo organizing committee, visited the Suncheon Bay International Wetland Center for a briefing, and toured various parts of the expo site including ▲Ocheon Green Plaza ▲Green Island ▲gardens from around the world together with Mayor No Gwan-gyu.

In particular, they had the opportunity to directly experience the core contents of this expo such as urban planning, environment, ecology, climate change, and wellness, sharing experiences and know-how on transforming the entire city into an ecological and garden city with the philosophy that ecology revitalizes the economy.

Mayor Gu said, “As Gyeongnam’s first local garden and a representative ecological tourism site, Geochang Changpowon will now be established as a nationwide attraction beyond Geochang’s local fame by adapting various excellent garden cases to our county’s circumstances so that it can be designated as a national garden.”

Meanwhile, Geochang Changpowon, a waterside ecological garden with year-round seasonal tourism themes, currently showcases more than 20 kinds of spring flowers such as daffodils, tulips, cherry blossoms, and moss phlox in vibrant colors, creating a beautiful spring garden that is becoming a space for healing and relaxation, receiving much love from visitors.
