Last year, 26,363 locations were inspected, identifying 5,017 sites for on-site correction, 4,939 for repair and reinforcement, and 92 for detailed safety diagnosis, totaling 10,048 sites with risk factors, contributing to the prevention of safety accidents.
This year’s intensive safety inspection will strengthen the accountability of inspection agencies and enhance inspection efficiency by systematically managing the history from target selection, inspection results, to follow-up measures.
Meanwhile, each ministry will also select facilities under their jurisdiction deemed highly risky based on recent accidents and the degree of aging to participate in the intensive safety inspection.
Kim Seong-ho, Director of the Disaster and Safety Management Headquarters, stated, “As safety-threatening factors are scattered throughout daily life due to the aging of social infrastructure, the government will thoroughly inspect to prevent safety accidents through cooperation with all related agencies and experts,” adding, “We ask for the public’s great interest and active participation in the Great Safety Transformation of the Republic of Korea, Intensive Safety Inspection, so that risk factors around daily life can be identified in advance and accidents can be prevented.”
