On the 14th, the Jungbu Police Station in Seoul announced that on the 12th, they conducted a joint traffic safety campaign with related organizations to create a safe school route within the children's protection zone at Gwanghui Elementary School located in Jung-gu, Seoul.
More than 50 people participated in the campaign, including not only the police but also the Model Drivers Association, Youth Development Association, Jung-gu School Route Safety Guardians, and Traffic Safety Instructors. They distributed promotional materials on the three principles of safe walking for students (Stop, Look, Walk). Additionally, they carried out promotional activities for drivers regarding the recently implemented right-turn traffic method and the mandatory complete stop at crosswalks without traffic lights within children's protection zones.
Choi Eun-jung, chief of the Jungbu Police Station, stated, "We will intensively crack down on violations of regulations within school zones to prevent any more tragic child fatalities like the recent one in a school zone in Daejeon," and added, "We will also continuously improve traffic safety facilities."
