On the 13th at 11:30 a.m., Gumi City in Gyeongbuk conducted meal service volunteer work at the Gumi Disabled Welfare Center with the participation of about 20 members of the Women's Association Council.

원본보기 아이콘Among the more than 20 organizations belonging to the Women's Association Council, about 20 members from the Korean Women’s Political League Gumi Branch, 21C Women’s Political Union Gumi Branch, Korea Mothers’ Association Gumi Branch, and Hometown Housewives’ Group participated in the volunteer activity. They sincerely served meals for 250 welfare center users and helped with cleaning trays and tidying up after the meal.
This volunteer meal service is the second time for the Women's Association Council, following their first service at the Gumi Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in March. They plan to continue meal service volunteering three times in the first half and three times in the second half of the year by visiting various welfare centers in the area.
Shin Kyung-eun, Chairwoman of the Gumi City Women's Association Council, stated, “To create a warm community where we live together, the Women's Association Council will participate not only in meal service but also in sharing activities for marginalized groups, wherever help is needed.”
Hwang Eun-chae, Director of the Family Childcare Division, said, “We deeply appreciate the members who join with warm hearts for the citizens as the weather warms. Our city will also carry out warm administration to ensure no neighbors are left out.”
The Gumi City Women's Association Council was established in 1989 and consists of 17 organizations with about 26,000 members. They have been engaged in various activities to expand women's social participation, improve their rights, and create a gender-equal society, including women's empowerment education, dispatching visiting gender equality instructors, organizing childcare daddy photo contests, creating safe environments for women, and local volunteer activities.
