Gumi City in Gyeongbuk held the '2023 3R Resource Recycling Collection Competition' at 11 a.m. on the 14th in the parking lot behind the Gumi Agricultural Products Wholesale Market, hosted by the Saemaeul Leaders Gumi City Council.

The 3R (Reuse, Recycle, Reduce), a long-term plan for the environment, is a practical movement aimed at conserving resources by collecting hidden resources around daily life, reducing environmental pollutants through resource reuse, and responding to the climate crisis.

The Saemaeul Leaders Council has taken the lead in collecting various recyclable materials such as waste vinyl, scrap metal, waste paper, and pesticide bottles abandoned in farmlands and residential areas every year, collecting 131,575 kg of recyclables equivalent to 40 vehicles in 2022 alone. Through the resource recycling collection competition, they have set a great example for citizens by actively working to protect the environment and overcome the climate crisis.

Lee Cheon-ho, Chairman of the Saemaeul Leaders Gumi City Council, said, “We will strive to promote the 3R movement pursued by the Saemaeul Movement to all citizens and ensure that Saemaeul takes the lead in protecting a beautiful and clean environment.”

Mayor Kim Jang-ho stated, “I hope the resource recycling collection competition will serve as an opportunity to effectively utilize resources around our daily lives and practice love for nature and life,” and urged Saemaeul leaders to actively practice so that the Green Saemaeul Movement can continue to be promoted.
