Jingu and Gong Seung-yeon to Host the Opening Ceremony of the 24th Jeonju International Film Festival

Actors Jingu and Gong Seung-yeon will open this year’s Jeonju International Film Festival.

On the 14th, the 24th Jeonju International Film Festival announced that Jingu and Gong Seung-yeon have been selected as hosts for the opening ceremony, which will be held at 6:30 PM on the 27th at the Moak Hall of the Korean Sound Culture Hall.

Jingu debuted in the drama "All In" (2003) and has been recognized for his acting skills through films such as "The Admiral: Roaring Currents" (2014), "One Line" (2016), and "The Witch: Part 2" (2022). Gong Seung-yeon won the Best Actress award in the Korean Competition section at the 22nd Jeonju International Film Festival for the film "Aloners" (2021) and served as a jury member for the 23rd Korean Short Film Competition.

The opening ceremony will proceed in the following order: a performance by the World Taekwondo Federation Demonstration Team, an opening declaration by Woo Beom-gi, the organizing committee chairman, welcome speeches by co-executive directors Min Seong-wook and Jung Joon-ho, introduction of the ‘J Special: Programmer of the Year,’ and introduction of the juries for each competition section.

The opening film is "Tori and Lokita," directed by Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne, which tells the story of marginalized immigrant children?a young boy and an adolescent girl?set in a Belgian city. The Dardenne brothers will visit Korea for the first time to attend the Jeonju International Film Festival.

The 24th Jeonju International Film Festival will be held from the 27th through May 6th around Jeonju’s Cinema Street. Over ten days, 247 films from 42 countries will be screened.
