Kumho Tire & Technology's standard workplace for people with disabilities, Korea Donggurami Partners, received the 'Presidential Citation' in the disabled workers category at the '2023 Government Awards for Promotion of Employment for Persons with Disabilities' ceremony held on the 13th at the Seoul Olympic Parktel.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities designate April each year as the 'Employment Promotion Period for Persons with Disabilities' to raise awareness among employers and the public about the employment of persons with disabilities, and implement the 'Government Awards for Promotion of Employment for Persons with Disabilities.'
Kim Mi-young, an employee of Korea Donggurami Partners who received the award, has been working since 2016 as a worker with a severe disability. She was recognized for her outstanding leadership and contribution to improving awareness of employment for persons with disabilities.
Korea Donggurami Partners is the first standard workplace for persons with disabilities in the domestic tire industry. In 2020, it opened the 'Donggurami Car Wash' in the underground parking lot of the headquarters building 'Technoplex' located in Pangyo, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province. In April last year, it also opened a new car wash and cafe in the Korea Engineering Lab building located in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, continuously expanding new businesses and contributing to the increase in employment for persons with disabilities.
The number of employees, which was 78 (42 persons with disabilities, 36 non-disabled) at the time of establishment in 2015, has more than doubled to 159 (90 persons with disabilities, 69 non-disabled) as of this year.
