Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics demonstrated the design capabilities of K-home appliances by sweeping the top awards at the internationally prestigious design competition, the 'iF Design Award 2023.' Established in 1953 under the auspices of the International Forum in Germany, the 'iF Design Award' comprehensively evaluates design distinctiveness and impact across nine categories: ▲Product ▲Package ▲Communication ▲Concept ▲Interior ▲Architecture ▲Service Design ▲User Experience (UX) ▲User Interface (UI).


On the 14th, Samsung Electronics announced that it received a total of 80 awards at the 'iF Design Award 2023,' including one Gold Award. This continued its record for the highest number of awards ever, following last year. The 'Bespoke Infinite Line' received the top honor, the Gold Award, and Samsung won 32 awards in the product category, 35 in UX/UI, 11 in concept, 1 in communication, and 1 in packaging.

The 'Bespoke Infinite Line' is a kitchen appliance combination consisting of a refrigerator, wine cellar, oven, and hood, applying differentiated materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, and ceramic to provide a cohesive design with a premium lifestyle sensibility.


Besides the Gold-winning work, other product category winners included ▲'Odyssey Ark,' a next-generation gaming screen that offers maximized audiovisual immersion and allows users to adjust the screen size and ratio as desired ▲'Galaxy Z Flip4 Bespoke Edition,' which can be customized with up to 75 combinations of front and back covers according to personal preference ▲'Bespoke Jet,' a wireless vacuum cleaner featuring an integrated clean station combining dust ejection and charging dock, available in popular Bespoke appliance colors.


In categories other than products, excellent designs included ▲'Sign Language Guide TV UX,' where an on-screen avatar explains TV settings in sign language for the hearing impaired ▲'Samsung Space Tycoon,' a management simulation game (tycoon) format that allowed participants to enjoy items directly and experience Samsung Electronics products.

LG Electronics Proves Design Competitiveness with 23 Awards Including One Gold

LG Electronics was recognized for its design competitiveness by winning a total of 23 awards, including the top Gold Award. The ‘LG PuriCare Objet Collection Aero Furniture,’ a compact air purifier that can be used as a table, won the Gold Award in the product design category. It is characterized by its convenience for use in various spaces such as bedrooms and studies, tailored to lifestyle needs. Users can also choose their own customized design that matches home interiors through combinations of the product’s top and bottom parts.

In addition to the Gold Award, LG Electronics received 22 main awards. Various products won awards in the product design category, including ▲‘LG OLED Flex,’ which embodies 10 years of innovation unique to LG OLED TVs and adjusts the screen curvature according to the viewing environment ▲‘LG Dios Objet Collection MoodUp,’ which changes refrigerator colors with a touch on the LG ThinQ app ▲‘LG Gram Style,’ which changes colors vividly depending on the angle of light and viewing direction.


The smart autonomous driving cabin ‘LG Omnipod’ presented a new mobility experience by interpreting the interior of future cars as a new extension of the home, winning an award in the concept category. The smart home platform ‘LG ThinQ’ won a main award in the communication category by enhancing convenience through intuitive operation of functions and services.


Sung-geol Hwang, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics Design Management Center, said, "This award is the result of continuous research into the lifestyles of diverse customers, including the MZ generation," adding, "We will continue to provide F.U.N experiences through meticulous customer research and build a new generation fandom."
