A tour bus carrying foreign tourists overturned in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do, resulting in one death.

According to the Fire Agency on the 13th, the accident occurred around 6:05 PM in Suanbo-myeon, Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do, when the tour bus tipped over to its side.


Among them, 34 people were injured, and a passenger in their 60s who was seriously injured eventually died. Except for one Korean driver and one guide who sustained minor injuries, the deceased and 32 injured, totaling 33 people, were reported to be Israeli nationals. The fire authorities deployed 31 vehicles including ambulances and 53 firefighting personnel.


The bus was reportedly traveling from Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, to a lodging facility located in Suanbo. While climbing an uphill road in front of a hotel in Suanbo, the bus stopped due to a transmission malfunction and rolled backward, causing it to overturn.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to cooperate with the Embassy of Israel in Korea to manage the situation related to this accident.
