Gyeongnam Jeongbodae Wins National Industry Award in 'Talent Development' Category

Gyeongnam Information University won the Grand Prize in the Talent Development category at this year’s National Industry Awards.


Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Dae-sik) received the Grand Prize at the ‘2023 National Industry Awards’ ceremony held on the 13th at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Seoul.


Hosted by the Korea Institute for Industrial Policy Studies and jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, and JoongAng Ilbo, the ‘National Industry Awards’ annually select and honor companies, institutions, and brands that have contributed to national industrial development and demonstrated outstanding management capabilities in global competition.

Since its establishment in 1965, Gyeongnam Information University has produced over 130,000 graduates as mid-level technicians over 58 years and has been highly evaluated for its talent development achievements, which include identifying individual student capabilities and ensuring high-level employment suited to their aptitudes.


Under the motto “Admission is Employment,” the university has achieved great success with its “Employment-guaranteed Customized Education,” where companies request the talent they need, and the university trains tailored personnel and guarantees employment.


Last year, Gyeongnam Information University employed the largest number of graduates among specialized colleges in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions. It also received high marks for its mammoth scholarship program worth 73.8 billion KRW to reduce student burdens, its convergence-type lifelong education programs for adult learners, and its partnerships with over 100 overseas universities to enhance students’ global competencies, demonstrating a well-established system for talent development.

At the 2023 National Industry Awards ceremony, in addition to Gyeongnam Information University, top domestic companies, institutions, and brands such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK Telecom, Starbucks, S-Oil, Korea Asset Management Corporation, and Korea Expressway Corporation received awards in various categories. Notably, Gyeongnam Information University was the only specialized college nationwide to be honored.


President Kim Dae-sik emphasized, “Throughout our 58-year history, we have steadily pursued the goal of nurturing talent equipped with both skills and character to contribute to national industrial development.”


President Kim added, “I dedicate this joy to the 130,000 alumni who have quietly contributed to national industrial development across the country, and Gyeongnam Information University will continue to devote all its efforts to nurturing national talent.”
