On the 12th, the hospital held an opening ceremony to mark its anniversary. The ceremony was attended by Seung-Hwan Seo, President of Yonsei University; Dong-Seop Yoon, Vice President for Medical Affairs and Director of the Medical Center at Yonsei University; Young-Gu Song, current hospital director; and Young-Kyung Kim, the second hospital director, among other former directors.

The 40th anniversary video unveiled at the ceremony showcased the hospital’s history, from the Yeongdong Project that laid the foundation for its establishment, to its role as the main transport hospital during the Seoul Olympics, the first successful lung transplant in Korea, and the establishment of the country’s first emergency medicine department.

On the same day, a 'Donation Appreciation Night' event was held with donors who have continuously supported the development of Gangnam Severance. Along with a report on the use of donations, a long-term master plan for building a new hospital, one of the future key topics for Gangnam Severance Hospital, was announced.

Additionally, the 40th anniversary symposium focused on the theme "The Development and Role of Modern Korean Medicine," highlighting the role of medical loans in the 1970s through the example of Gangnam Severance, which was initiated by a German financial loan. A special lecture series for local residents was also organized, featuring Professors Hyun-Wook Chae from Pediatrics and Jung-Ho Seok from Psychiatry, who gave consecutive lectures on ▲Treatment and management of short stature and precocious puberty ▲Attachment and depression.

A pictorial 40-year history book capturing Gangnam Severance Hospital’s four decades was also published. It includes interviews reflecting on the experiences of former hospital directors and approximately 450 photos arranged chronologically. The book also highlights the new hospital to be constructed, providing a comprehensive view of Gangnam Severance Hospital’s future.

Hospital Director Young-Gu Song stated, "The energy behind Gangnam Severance Hospital’s proud achievements comes from the organizational culture where all staff members unite and prioritize the community over the individual." He added, "Building on the strength accumulated over 40 years, we are now at the starting line toward the future, and we will steadily complete the new hospital construction project while faithfully fulfilling the institution’s mission and purpose."
