Omiseop, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Discusses Integrated Support Measures for Youth Preparing for Independence

Oh Miseop, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, participated as a panelist in the '2023 Integrated Support Discussion for Youth Preparing for Independence' and emphasized that the administration must actively step up to support youth preparing for independence.

On the 12th, at a discussion hosted by the Gwangju City Council and the nonprofit organization Jogum Dareun Gil, Councilor Oh explained the background and content of the 'Seo-gu Ordinance on Supporting Youth Preparing for Independence' and stated, "Beyond the ordinance's provisions, practical support is necessary," adding, "Especially regarding jobs, which are key to preparing for independence, we will work together to solve issues through cooperation with local institutions and businesses."

The ordinance specifies the responsibilities of the district mayor, including ▲conducting a survey and establishing a basic plan every three years, ▲support projects for independence and self-sufficiency, ▲and the roles and responsibilities of the autonomous district in providing housing, living, education, and job opportunities.

Based on the ordinance, Seo-gu Office has begun supporting youth preparing for independence by conducting surveys, establishing its own plans, and securing budgets.

Councilor Oh said, "Through an institutional foundation, we will build a network for psychological and emotional support and strive to ensure that support projects under the ordinance are practically implemented," adding, "We will work together to secure the social roles and status of youth preparing for independence."

In the latter half, Councilor Oh received the top individual award in the 'Outstanding Local Council Ordinance' evaluation, recognizing the ordinance's function, and continues active legislative activities to support residents by attending various discussions.
