Samsung D: "QD-OLED Leads Large Displays... New Quality Standards Needed for High-Definition Content"

Vice President Seonho's Keynote Speech at the 2023 OLED Korea Conference

Samsung Display stated on the 13th, "Display color expression is becoming increasingly important, and new image quality standards suitable for high-definition content environments are needed," adding, "Quantum Dot-Organic Light Emitting Diode (QD-OLED) will lead a new paradigm in the large display market." The company expressed confidence that its flagship product, QD-OLED, can accurately reproduce colors to meet the demands of high-definition content environments.


Sunho Samsung Display Vice President and Head of Large Business Division Strategic Marketing Office said in a keynote speech at the '2023 OLED Korea Conference' held at the Central Park Hotel in Songdo, Incheon, "Displays must be able to reproduce colors accurately, identical to real colors."

Vice President Sun reported on the latest display industry trends, including the increase in online video service (OTT) sales and the trend toward higher specifications of graphics cards required for high-definition gaming.


He said, "The demand for high-definition content consumption is increasing," and added, "To implement the optimal HDR that expresses high-definition content, new standards for color must be established."


Regarding their QD-OLED, he stated, "It is a product that expresses accurate colors as if real and pursues the essence of display, which is image quality."

Sashrak, a marketing team professional at Samsung Display, said, "We expect QD-OLED to lead a new paradigm in the large display market," adding, "The 2023 model QD-OLED, which applies advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology and the latest organic materials, has improved the brightness of each RGB color and enhanced the maximum color luminance to over 2000 nits."


He continued, "In terms of panel efficiency, there are no issues in typical viewing environments, and it is excellent in power consumption, meeting the energy efficiency standards applied by the European Union (EU)."
