The first supplementary budget proposal of this year for Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, has passed the district council.

According to Buk-gu on the 13th, the first supplementary budget, amounting to 1.0656 trillion KRW, which is an increase of 80.6 billion KRW (8.18%) compared to the original budget, has been finalized.


With this, Buk-gu is the only autonomous district in Gwangju to enter the era of a 1 trillion KRW budget for four consecutive years, gaining momentum to focus its financial capacity on improving residents' welfare and overcoming the economic crisis.


This supplementary budget was organized with an emphasis on preparing for various disasters such as droughts and wildfires, supporting residents' convenience and the livelihood stability of vulnerable groups, and responding to the economic crisis.


Key items increased for residents' convenience and safety include ▲34 billion KRW for the creation of Sinan 1 Children's Park ▲950 million KRW for the construction of Citizens' Soseum-gil ▲2.2 billion KRW for the establishment of the Together Sharing Happiness Community Center ▲3 billion KRW for installing excellent detention facilities around Munheung-dong Catholic Church ▲700 million KRW for installing crime prevention CCTV.


Additionally, for supporting vulnerable groups and providing care, the budget includes ▲12.4 billion KRW for livelihood benefits ▲6.1 billion KRW for parental benefits (infant allowance) ▲2.15 billion KRW for green remodeling of national and public daycare centers ▲1.87 billion KRW for the Gwangju-style integrated care project ▲560 million KRW for the pilot project of integrated medical care for the elderly.


Along with this, economic support for youth and small business owners includes ▲1.3 billion KRW for the Youth Challenge Support Project ▲1 billion KRW for farmers' public interest allowance support ▲300 million KRW for the Livelihood Economy Recovery Win-Win Fund ▲40 million KRW for dormitory rental support for small and medium enterprise workers.


Moon In, the mayor of Buk-gu, said, “This supplementary budget was organized with a focus on prioritizing residents' safety and revitalizing the stagnant livelihood economy,” adding, “We will use it efficiently and transparently to solve local issues.”
