A group involved in cultivating and producing marijuana in residential areas and apartments in Seoul and other regions was caught by the prosecution.
The Special Investigation Team for Drug Crimes of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Team Leader Shin Junho, Chief Prosecutor) announced on the 13th that they uncovered three professional marijuana cultivation and production facilities that had infiltrated densely populated residential areas and arrested four individuals, including Kwon Mo (26) and Park Mo (26).
Kwon and Park are accused of establishing and operating a marijuana cultivation and production factory equipped with large-scale marijuana rental equipment, freeze dryers, and hydraulic presses in a residential area of Jungnang-gu, Seoul, where row houses are densely packed, from December 2021 to last January. They cultivated marijuana themselves and processed it through freeze-drying, liquid extraction, and mixing with PG solution to produce liquid marijuana. They also advertised it 29 times on a Telegram channel and sold it, as well as smoked it themselves, according to the investigation. The prosecution seized five marijuana plants in the planting stage and 1.2 kg of marijuana in their possession.
Meanwhile, in Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam Province, Jeong Mo (38) and Park Mo (37) were caught by the Seoul District Prosecutors' Office for cultivating marijuana in two apartments from May last year to last February. They are accused of posting 26 advertisements for marijuana sales on a Telegram channel and selling 13 marijuana plants in the planting stage and 580 g of marijuana.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office began investigating these individuals after the 'Dark Web Investigation Team,' restored in December last year, detected clues related to marijuana. The four indicted on this day were confirmed to have learned marijuana cultivation and liquid marijuana manufacturing methods through the internet.
