Gyeonggi Province is recruiting small and medium-sized export companies in the consumer goods industry within the province to target the emerging ASEAN markets in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Export Enterprises Association.

The province announced on the 13th that it will visit Bangkok, Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from July 17 to 21 to hold one-on-one export consultation meetings, and is recruiting 10 companies to participate in the '2023 Gyeonggi Province ASEAN Trade Promotion Delegation' by the 24th of this month.

The participating companies will be selected based on their export readiness, acquisition of overseas standard certifications and patents, public institution certificates, export performance, and local market potential.

Participating companies will receive support such as one-on-one consultations with buyers, provision of interpreters and consultation venues, and vehicle rentals. However, airfare, local accommodation expenses, and taxes incurred during customs clearance must be borne individually by the participating companies.

Companies wishing to participate can apply through EasyBiz by the 24th. When applying, company information and evaluation materials must be registered. Eligibility requires that the business site (including headquarters) or factory location be in Gyeonggi Province, and that the company is a small or medium-sized enterprise with export amounts of $20 million or less in 2022.

The province plans to actively support promising small and medium-sized consumer goods companies in developing overseas markets and expanding abroad through the trade promotion delegation, connecting them with export experts to ensure export consultations lead to actual contracts and providing continuous follow-up support. Additionally, this year, Gyeonggi Province will support participating companies' global overseas market entry strategies through focused export capacity-building training.

Lee Min-woo, Director of the Investment and Trade Division of the province, emphasized, "Due to the global economic downturn, both domestic demand and export prospects are challenging. We will actively support export companies striving to devise new strategies and responses and revitalize exports so that they can grow as key players in the emerging ASEAN markets."
