Saengcho-myeon, Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, will hold the "4th Sancheong Saengcho International Sculpture Park Flower Moss Festival" from the 14th to the 28th at the Saengcho International Sculpture Park area.
Now in its 4th year, the Flower Moss Festival is welcoming visitors again after four years due to the impact of COVID-19. This year’s festival is composed of various programs including exhibitions, hands-on events, performances, and a marketplace for local agricultural specialties, capturing the attention of visitors.
The 25,000㎡ park site is in full bloom with vibrant flower moss, creating the illusion of standing in an outdoor art gallery carpeted in pink. Especially, reflecting the hometown of former Vietnam national football team coach Park Hang-seo, some of the flower moss is arranged in the shape of a soccer ball, highlighting Saengcho as a soccer town even more.
Also, this year, to provide new attractions for festival visitors, more flower moss has been planted along the embankment paths and roadsides, decorating the entire Saengcho-myeon as a "flower paradise." The festival will open with an opening ceremony on the 14th.
The event begins with a traditional folk band parade by Han Ultarihoe, followed by a congratulatory saxophone club performance. In addition, the Sancheong Museum will offer exhibitions on "Prehistoric Artifacts and Sancheong’s Historical Culture" and calligraphy experience events, providing both sights and entertainment.
At the Sancheong Wooden Sculpture Master Training Center, there will be an exhibition of wooden sculptures by National Intangible Cultural Property No. 108 woodcarver Park Chan-su, along with a weekend wood rubbing experience event.
At the cultural space Pyeongchon Gallery, a special exhibition featuring four female artists will be held, offering diverse enjoyment. The saxophone club’s performance, which delighted visitors at the opening event, will also return on weekends.
Furthermore, a marketplace for local agricultural specialties will be operated to introduce Sancheong’s excellent agricultural products, along with tasting events.
Meanwhile, the Saengcho International Sculpture Park is a distinctive cultural and artistic park where over 20 modern sculptures by renowned domestic and international sculptors harmonize with the Gaya period burial mounds, adding historical significance and floral fragrance to create a splendid atmosphere.
