According to a Yonhap News report on the 12th, Shin Mo (76), who operates a pension in Anhyeon-dong, Gangneung, revealed that he found a bundle of 50,000 won bills reduced to ashes in the building burned down by the wildfire.


The safe contained not only money but also bankbooks and various certificates, all of which were completely charred. Many people at the evacuation center have suffered similar damages.


According to Gangneung City, as of 7 p.m. the previous day, 28 pensions and 3 lodging facilities were tentatively counted as burned down.


Gangneung City began a precise on-site investigation from that day, and the scale of the damage is expected to increase. Meanwhile, President Yoon Seok-yeol declared Gangneung City a special disaster zone that morning due to the severe damage caused by the wildfire.
