This event was organized to introduce the 2023 Pohang Small Giant R&D Special Zone support projects. It explained support projects from local business support organizations such as Pohang Technopark, policy fund loan support projects from the Small and Medium Business Corporation, and intellectual property creation support projects from the Gyeongbuk Intellectual Property Center, drawing significant interest from many companies.

Starting with a greeting from Kim Sang-woo, Director of the Pohang Small Giant Special Zone Development Center, the center introduced the overall promotion system of the Small Giant Special Zone development projects, including ▲two-way technology discovery and linkage support ▲Innopolis Campus Project ▲technology transfer commercialization (R&BD) ▲regional specialization development, along with detailed contents of the regional specialization development projects.

Among these, the Innopolis Campus Project, which is recruiting participants until the 23rd of this month, supports prospective entrepreneurs and startups within three years in the region by providing continuous mentoring by field experts, prototype and promotional material production support, participation in domestic and international exhibitions, and linkage to early-stage investment attraction, with a total project budget of 470 million KRW.

Also, the Cooperative Value-up R&BD project under the technology transfer commercialization (R&BD), recruiting until June 30th, supports up to 500 million KRW for R&BD (productization and mass production) cooperative tasks aimed at new product and new business entry by two or more Small Giant Special Zone companies that have received technology transferred from research institute companies or public research institutions. The total project budget is 1.4 billion KRW.

This year’s Pohang Small Giant Special Zone regional specialization development projects consist of ▲technology transfer demonstration support project ▲advanced new materials All-in-One package support project ▲technology linkage support project, supporting technology commercialization based on corporate demand, with a total project budget of 670 million KRW.

The ‘Technology Transfer Demonstration Support Project’ supports productization for commercialization or demonstration of transferred technology received from public research institutions, providing up to 80 million KRW for consortium-type projects involving public research institutions per company, and up to 50 million KRW for single-company projects.

The ‘Advanced New Materials All-in-One Package Support Project’ provides up to 30 million KRW for performance testing, safety evaluation, prototype production, and commercialization strategy support necessary for the commercialization of advanced new material products, and can be supported as a single or package customized for companies.

Additionally, the ‘Technology Linkage Support Project’ is a customized non-R&D program based on corporate demand utilizing researchers and infrastructure from public research institutions and external experts, supporting consulting for difficulties, marketing, analysis, etc., up to 2 million KRW per company.
