The Women’s Association Council of Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (President An Mi-young) held an inauguration and retirement ceremony on the 12th at the Sinan-gun Office auditorium, attended by about 250 people including female leaders and members of women’s organizations.
According to the county, newly appointed President An Mi-young, originally from Jeungdo-myeon, will serve as the president of the Sinan-gun Women’s Association Council for the next two years, promoting various projects such as gender equality advancement, enhancement of women’s rights, and volunteer activities for neighborly love.

In her inaugural speech, President An Mi-young said, “Harmony and communication are important to strengthen the unity among members,” adding, “I will faithfully fulfill my role as a female leader and closely look after low-income and marginalized neighbors.”
Instead of congratulatory flower wreaths at the inauguration, she received 1,000 kg of rice (worth about 3 million KRW) as part of the Sinan rice consumption campaign and donated it to the Sinan County Welfare Foundation.
On the same day, former President Jeon Jin-ja, who served as president for four years during the 9th and 10th terms, received a plaque of appreciation for her dedication and contributions.
County Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “I thank former President Jeon Jin-ja for her efforts in developing women’s organizations so far, and congratulate newly appointed President An Mi-young,” adding, “We look forward to the future activities of the Women’s Association Council to make Sinan a place where hope springs forth.”
Meanwhile, the Sinan-gun Women’s Association Council was founded in April 2005 and currently has 900 members playing a pivotal role in promoting women’s rights, community service, and realizing a gender-equal society.
