According to the county on the 12th, the forest restoration project involves installing structures to prevent soil erosion or collapse caused by rain and wind in mountains, riversides, coastal areas, and other locations. Depending on the type of construction, it is classified into mountain restoration, forest dams, stream conservation, coastal disaster prevention forests, and more.
This year, Muan-gun has secured a total of about 1 billion KRW for the forest restoration project, including 700 million KRW in national funds and 150 million KRW in provincial funds. The plan includes 2 km of stream conservation and two sites for coastal erosion prevention.
The county has completed a series of preliminary administrative procedures such as provincial design review and contract evaluation, and plans to start the project in April. All administrative efforts will be focused to ensure that related projects are completed within the first half of the year, before the main rainy season begins.
Additionally, safety inspections will be conducted on existing forest restoration facilities (16 sites), and maintenance such as dredging of two forest restoration facilities will be carried out. A survey of landslide-prone areas will also be completed early in the first half of the year to maximize the effectiveness of forest disaster prevention projects.
Governor Kim San stated, “To enhance the practical effects of disaster prevention projects, we will strive to complete forest restoration projects in high-risk areas such as landslide-prone zones in a timely manner before the rainy season, protecting the lives and property of our residents.”
