Yoon Declares Gangneung a Special Disaster Area in the Morning

The dinner meeting between President Yoon Suk-yeol and the former leadership of the People Power Party scheduled for the 12th has been canceled.

According to the Presidential Office, President Yoon canceled the dinner planned at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the day, considering the wildfire damage situation in Gangneung City, Gangwon Province.

Instead, President Yoon plans to continue his work with private briefings in the afternoon. A meal with the former leadership will be rescheduled for a later date.

Earlier, President Yoon declared Gangneung City, where a large-scale wildfire occurred, a special disaster area that morning.

He instructed Han Chang-seop, Acting Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, to "make every effort to support recovery so that affected residents can quickly return to their daily lives."

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to urgently provide 1 billion KRW in special grants and 64 million KRW in disaster relief funds to expedite recovery.
